India’s Production Capacity Of Solar Modules

India’s production capacity of solar modules

According to the latest solar news, India’s production capacity of solar modules will increase by 400 percent by Fiscal 2025 compared to Fiscal 2021.

These increases will be supported by strong demand, favorable policies, improved energy efficiency and price competition. Support for government policy and Chinese-related competition will support domestic producers.

This price will close the existing price gap as 40% of the Basic Income Tax will apply to imported modules and the Production linked Incentive (PLI) program. These are not the only 2 things that can make a home module compete for 2–3 cents per watt at current prices.

India needs to add 18,000 MW of Hydro power capacity in the nest 9 years to meet the HPO norms. This will be 39 per cent increase over the existing installed hydro capacity, based on the notified hydro purchase obligation (HPO) norms and trajectory.

SECRs have notified the HPO norms in a few states only in line with policy targets. Hence, timeliness as well as consistency in the notification of HPO norms remains key monitorable.

ICRA informed that the addition of hydro capacity in India has been sluggish as it has faced significant execution challenges like seen in the incremental capacity addition of about 22 GW between 2000 and 2021. This was a mere 3 per cent growth in hydro segment.

Local manufacturing of solar modules is set to soar by almost 400 percent by fiscal 2025 compared to the last financial year with 30-35 GW of fresh module capacity at an investment of Rs 50,000 crore across the value chain, says a report. Rating agency Crisil’s report is based on an analysis of the capex plans of the top 11 domestic module manufacturers that account for 80 percent of the current solar module installed effective capacity.

The solar module manufacturing value chain starts with polysilicon and/or ingots, which are converted into wafers. These wafers are used to produce solar cells, which are then assembled to manufacture solar modules

New Delhi: Real estate advising platform Housing.com has made a foray into the solar power business by launching “Solar Rooftop” – a solar rooftop solution for homes under its rental and allied services platform Housing Edge.

“With the help of this innovative residential solution, homeowners can save up to 90 percent on their electricity bills. In this context, Housing.com has entered into a partnership with Loom Solar, an emerging SolarTech start-up under Government of India’s Start-up India initiative,” the company said in a statement.
