Southwest Airlines Pet Policy For Cats And Dogs

Southwest Airlines Pet Policy for cats and dogs

Southwest Airlines is a low-cost airline that offers scheduled and charter service to more than 100 destinations in 40 states and five countries. Southwest Airlines' pet policy allows passengers to travel with their pets in the cabin. This means you can bring your dog with you during your flight.

Southwest Airlines Pet Policy
Southwest Airlines' pet policy states that you can bring your pet on board. However, you cannot bring more than one pet on the plane and they will not allow your pet to go to the exit row. Additionally, you cannot take your pet on a connecting flight.

You must also follow the airline's rules regarding transporting a pet. Below is information about Southwest's policies. If you plan to bring your dog or cat, you must follow their guidelines.

In accordance with the airline's pet policy, you can bring your dog or cat on board with you, but only one per flight. For the flight, you can transport a maximum of two animals per seat.

Additionally, you are only allowed to bring one animal on board and must keep the other in a separate carrier. You will have to pay $95 for each animal in the southwest. You can also take up to two pets with you. When you fly Southwest airlines, you can take your dog or cat in their carrier. The airline allows up to six pets per flight, but this is not allowed if your pet is older. Your pet cannot sleep on your lap, but you can place it on the shelf. This is the only way to bring your pet on board the airline.

Trained Service Animals
Southwest Airlines' pet policy allows passengers with disabilities to travel free of charge with trained service animals in the passenger cabin, both on domestic and international flights. Under the new policy, only trained dogs will be considered service animals.

Passengers traveling with trained service animals must:

Verbally reassure Southwest staff of their service animal’s training.
Satisfy Southwest (if necessary) as to the service dog's ability to serve them.
Carry the forms issued by the US DOT for their service animal.
Make sure their service dog is:
Well behaved throughout the flight.
Does not disturb passengers or aircraft crew.
Be equipped to meet the health needs of their service dog.
Law enforcement service animals
Southwest Airlines accepts trained dogs to travel free in the cabin with their owners if:

The dog is trained to perform law enforcement tasks
The handler carries the trained assistance dog certificate and mission details.
Southwest Airlines ESA Pet Policy
Southwest Airlines' pet policy no longer accepts emotional support animals (ESAs), such as dogs, cats, miniature ponies, hamsters or other animals. If you must travel with an emotional support animal, contact Southwest for assistance.
