Without having to worry about the fares increasing in price, fare hold provides you time to free up money or confirm travel and lodging information with your travelling partners. After paying the fare hold fee, you will have three days to finalise your reservation by paying all of the associated fares. How to hold airfare at Air New Zealand?

  • Open the official website of Air New Zealand
  • Here you will find the Flights option – click on it
  • Go to the bottom portion of "Select your flights" screen
  • You will now see an option as "Hold this fare" button – click on it
  • Fill out the necessary information on the fare hold page and pay the fare hold cost.
  • The airline will send you a confirmation email for the fare hold
  • This email will include a link
  • For the same cost, we will hold your itinerary for 3 days.
  • Return to your reservation by clicking the link in your confirmation email, adding the necessary passenger information, and paying for your flights within the allotted three days.
  • Should you decide not to fulfil your reservation

Know the terms and conditions to hold your fare

The fare hold fee is not applied to the final price of your ticket and is not refunded if you decide not to purchase your fares, with the exception of tickets to or from the US, which are refundable (see section 7 of our terms and conditions below). Your chosen fares will be held for the flight, date, price, and number of passengers once the fare hold fee has been paid. Once you have paid the fare hold fee, this information cannot be changed. As per Air New Zealand customer service number, you can make changes in flight and date in accordance with the fare rules associated with the fares purchased (fees may apply) once the booking is complete.

How do I take the benefit of fare hold?

  • On the Air New Zealand website, you can choose your flights. At the bottom of the "Create Itinerary" screen, a "Fare Hold" button will show up if your itinerary qualifies for fare holding. To hold your fares, choose this. On the fare hold page, fill out the necessary information and pay the fare hold cost.
  • You will receive a Fare Hold confirmation email from us that includes a booking reference and a link to your reservation. For three days, we will retain your itinerary for you (at the same cost).
  • To return to your booking, finish entering the information for the travellers, and paying for your flights within the allotted three days, click the link in your confirmation email.
