Your wedding day makeup is about feeling confident for more than 12+ hours while dancing, partying and making memories - it's not only about stunning.
One thing I've discovered from working in the beauty industry for 25 years is that successful wedding makeup requires 50% preparation, 25% skincare and 25% skill.
This is your complete road map.
The Timeline That Works
Begin your skincare regimen 4 weeks in advance (hydrating cleanser → toner → serum → moisturizer → SPF). Book a makeup trial. Patch test new products.
2 Weeks Before: Finalise your makeup look. Order the missing goods. Continue using skincare.
1 Week Before: Get a last facial. Practice applying cosmetics (if you're doing it yourself). Peak hydration week: drink plenty of water, hydrate your skin, and avoid trying new products.
3 Days Before: Final facial appointment. This offers your skin a new shine without the redness.
Day Before: Use just light skincare. Sleep for 8 hours. Avoid stress-eating.
Wedding Day: Light breakfast 4 hours before the wedding. Begin makeup application 2-3 hours before the ceremony (45-minute regimen).
Skincare: Your Foundation
Good skin = flawless makeup. Period.
Morning Routine (5 minutes):
Gentle cleanser
Hydrating toner (alcohol-free)
Hydrating serum (hyaluronic acid)
Lightweight moisturizer

Night Routine (7 minutes):
Gentle cleanser
Hydrating toner
Essence (optional, extra hydration)
Moisturizer (richer formula)

Night cream
Weekly: 1x gentle exfoliation, 1x hydrating mask, 1x professional facial (2-4 weeks before wedding).
Avoid: New products, strong actives, harsh exfoliation in the final week.
Application: 45-Minute Professional Technique
Step 1: Primer (5 minutes) - Apply moisturising primer on face. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
Step 2: Apply foundation (10 minutes) using a moist sponge. Press (do not swipe). Create thin layers. Concentrate on the T-zone and under the eyes.
Step 3: Concealer (5 minutes) - Apply to under eyes and wrinkles. Tap softly and mix with your finger.
Step 4: Powder (3 minutes) - Use translucent powder with a gentle hand. Focus solely on the T-zone. Skip cheeks.
Step 5: Eyes (15 minutes) - Eyeshadow primer and neutral hues (golds, taupes, blushes). Soft eyeliner (pencil; not harsh). Waterproof mascara (2-3 coats for upper lashes).
Step 6: Blush and contour (5 minutes) - Apply cream blush on cheek apples. Soft contour (blends well).
Step 7: Lips (2 minutes) - Lip liner and long-wear lipstick. Blot and reapply for longevity.
Step 8: Lightly mist with Setting Spray (5 minutes). This is your insurance; it keeps your makeup in place for 12 hours or longer.

Skipping primer → Makeup breaks down after 4-6 hours.
No touch-up kit → You're dancing, crying, eating. Bring blotting papers + powder.
