Stone Cutting Machine Safety Operating Procedures

Stone Cutting Machine Safety Operating Procedures:

To ensure safe, stable, and efficient operation in stone processing environments, all workers must strictly follow the following safety operating procedures. Each step is designed to reduce risks associated with high-speed cutting blades, heavy stone materials, and complex mechanical systems.

1. Operator Qualification and Permission Requirements

Do not operate a saw without receiving proper training and mastering operating skills. Anyone using the saw must obtain the custodian’s permission and work under the supervision of a designated person.

2. Mandatory Protective Equipment

Before starting work, wear full protective gear. Cuffs and collar must be tightly fastened. Wear protective glasses to prevent eye injuries from stone debris and chips.

3. Pre-Operation Mechanical Inspection

Before turning on the machine, inspect all mechanical components—including the saw blade, table, screws, chain, motor, and switch. If any issue is found, report it immediately to the maintenance team. Operation is only allowed after the problem is fully repaired.

4. Saw Blade Condition and Replacement Safety

Do not use cracked, uneven, missing-tooth, or dull saw blades. Always disconnect the power cord before replacing the blade. Ensure the blade is securely installed, perpendicular to the shaft centerline, and free of vibration during operation.

5. Guard Device Integrity

Ensure all guards are intact and functioning properly. Do not remove, modify, or relocate any guard device. Removable guards must remain in their original designed positions.

6. Idle Test Run Before Cutting

After starting the machine, let it run idle for 2–3 minutes. Check if the blade rotates smoothly and avoid standing directly in front of it. Confirm the cooling water supply is functioning normally.

7. Workstation Attendance Requirement

Once the machine is running, the operator must not leave the workstation without permission. The machine must be stopped and powered off before leaving.

8. Safe Alignment Procedures

Alignment of the saw cut must be done when the blade is completely stopped. Only restart the blade after alignment is finished and begin cutting afterward.

9. Hand Safety and Behavior Regulations

During cutting, hands must stay away from the saw blade. Do not place arms near or above the blade. Monitor nearby personnel to ensure no one approaches the danger zone.

10. Safe Blade Retraction After Cutting

After completing the cut, return the machine to the stop position. Ensure the blade retracts fully into the protective cover to prevent injuries from the blade’s inertia rotation.

11. Coordination with Crane Operations

The stone cutting machine operator and the overhead crane operator must coordinate carefully. The crane operator must follow the cutting machine operator’s instructions. Lifting operations are strictly prohibited while the cutting machine is running.

12. Inspection of Lifting Fixtures

During cutting, check the lifting fixture above the guide rods for looseness. If any issue is found, stop the machine immediately and adjust it to prevent collapse or equipment damage.

13. Proper Storage of Guide Rods and Steel Claws

Guide rods and steel claws must be neatly stacked and securely placed to prevent falling, collapsing, or obstructing pathways.

14. Cleaning Procedures After Operation

Clean the machine and surrounding floor after work. When removing aluminum shavings or stone debris, do not blow or touch them with hands. Use a brush, hook, or other proper tools.

15. Final Shutdown and Warning Sign Placement

After completing all tasks, shut down the machine, disconnect the power supply, and place a visible warning sign to prevent unauthorized or accidental startup.
