Srichand P Hinduja’s Passing
SP Hinduja had been ailing with a disease named Dementia for a few decades before his death and had stopped making public appearance. Due to having severe complications while suffering with a chronic illness, Lewy Body Dementia, SP took his last breath at the age of 87, on May 17, 2023, in London.
Who Took Over After SP’s Demise?

Gopichand Hinduja became the second-generation patriarch of the group and de facto Hinduja family head after his eldest brother's passing. He has played a pivotal role in diversifying the group's expansion into different sectors. Under his instrumental efforts the group has made its presence in new sectors like automobiles and healthcare. He currently serves as the Chairman of both Hinduja Group and Hinduja Automotive Ltd in UK.
The passing of SP Hinduja brought an end to the era for both Hinduja family and group. As the eldest son and also the Karta of the family after his father’s passing, he has greatly carried the legacy of the group forward. He had also been instrumental in the expansion of the group on the global platform. With his demise the responsibility of both the family and group was automatically transferred onto the shoulders of the second eldest Hinduja brother Gopichand Hinduja. Ever since Gopichand has been leading the group and is influencing the evolving role of the next generation. With the revolution in the family’s leadership roles and intervention of new generation and their ideas the Hinduja legacy seems poised for continuity and further diversification.
