As an educator, it is important to dedicate time to learning English myself, working with learners individually and teaching. This allows me to spot when learners are struggling and intervene before they disengage while teaching. In return, the class becomes more engaged by learning together than just a lecture-led lesson. Reserving sufficient time for class meetings ensures efficiency and can prevent students from being distracted. Budget more time for contact with learners, as learners appreciate help and personal attention. Monitor class conditions and intervene when needed to help prevent engagement in becoming disengaged. While students are in class and engaged, encouraging them to contribute on note cards or online forms allows learners some control over the process. When large-scale changes come to the course's objectives, it is recommended that instructors send letters out over email to communicate with students who may be struggling. Being there when these things happen allows them to ensure that issues do not lead to disengagement from the course in general.
