Seamless carbon steel pipe is an important steel pipe material with a wide range of uses. When using seamless carbon steel pipes, in order to make its surface corrosion-resistant and increase its beauty, it needs to be painted. Painting seamless carbon steel pipes can play a good role in corrosion prevention and rust prevention, and can extend the service life of the pipeline.
Commonly used seamless carbon steel pipe coatings
Generally speaking, epoxy paint or asphalt paint with anti-corrosion function should be used when painting carbon steel pipes.
1. Epoxy coatings
Epoxy coatings are a kind of coating made of epoxy resin as the main film-forming base material, pigments, fillers, additives, curing agents and other additives. It has good corrosion resistance and acid and alkali resistance.
When brushing seamless carbon steel pipes, if you want to achieve better corrosion resistance and corrosion resistance, it is recommended to use epoxy coatings for painting. The focus of brushing epoxy coatings is surface treatment before construction and coating quality control. Surface treatment processes include rust removal, sandblasting, etc., and coating quality control includes coating thickness, coating uniformity, dry film thickness, etc.
2. Asphalt coating
Asphalt coating is a coating made of asphalt as the main base material and other auxiliary materials. The advantages are good anti-corrosion performance and noise reduction effect, which can effectively reduce pipeline noise.
When brushing seamless carbon steel pipes, if you want to reduce noise and achieve anti-corrosion effect at the same time, it is recommended to use asphalt coating for painting. The construction quality control of asphalt coating mainly includes coating thickness, coating uniformity, steel pipe surface cleanliness, etc.
Seamless carbon steel pipe painting process
1. Surface treatment
First, the surface of the carbon steel pipe needs to be cleaned to remove oil and rust on the surface for subsequent primer treatment. For carbon steel pipes with rust on the surface, sandblasting is also required to completely remove the rusted part to ensure the subsequent coating adhesion.
2. Primer treatment
Next, the seamless carbon steel pipe is primed and a suitable primer is selected for brushing. The main function of the primer is to protect the surface of the steel pipe and enhance the adhesion between the coating and the substrate. After the primer is applied, it is necessary to wait for the primer to dry, and the general time needs to be controlled within 24 hours.
3. Intermediate coating treatment
The intermediate coating treatment adopts the vibration coating method. The paint needs to be fully stirred before painting to ensure the uniformity of the paint. Before painting, the paint needs to be diluted so that it can be better applied to the surface of the seamless carbon steel pipe and enhance the adhesion of the coating.
4. Topcoat treatment
Finally, the coating is treated with topcoat and a suitable topcoat is selected for painting. The main function of the topcoat is to show the craftsmanship, improve the aesthetics and good weather resistance, and improve the overall performance of the coating. After the topcoat is applied, it is necessary to wait for the topcoat to dry, and the general time needs to be controlled within 24 hours.
Precautions for painting seamless carbon steel pipes
When painting seamless carbon steel pipes, you need to pay attention to the following aspects:
1. The use of epoxy paint and asphalt paint should be reasonable, and the type of paint should be selected according to the use environment and requirements;
2. The carbon steel pipe needs to be surface treated before construction, and the surface must be clean, dry and flat;
3. The coating needs to be applied evenly, and the coating amount must meet the requirements;
4. Epoxy paint needs to be fully cured to achieve the maximum anti-corrosion effect;
5. The construction temperature of asphalt paint should be above 5℃.
