It is no hidden fact that designing a corporate logo is no child’s play. There are a lot of things that need to be considered and you have to come up with a corporate logo design that is unique and appealing. In order to get the best ideas about designing a corporate logo, studying the evolution of some of the famous brands can prove to be very helpful. 

In the world of logo designing trends change on a continuous basis and they can lead to some major design changes in society. In this article, we will try to study the evolution of some of the well-known logos. So, let’s begin with it.

1.    APPLE
 
The story of Apple’s corporate logo is as old as time itself. Apple computers was founded back in the mid- 70s by Jobs and Wozniak. Their first logo was created in 1976 by Ronald Wayne. In the logo Wayne had shown Newton sitting under an apple tree.

The logo has evolved massively since then and has changed the world of logo designing forever. The first colorful logo appeared in the year 1977. Since then, the logo has seen some changes with regards to the effects and textures. But the core logo hasn’t changed since 1977.

2.    MICROSOFT 
 
Microsoft logo has been through some massive changes too with regards to their corporate logo design. When you look at the evolution of Microsoft’s logo, you will notice that in the 70s letters that look swoopy, the 80s logo had a metal band look, and the logo in the 90s looked more like a corporate logo.

3.    YAHOO!
 
The next corporate logo design we are going to have a look at is the logo of Yahoo! A proper look at the logo will tell you that during the mid-90s, they had a logo which had bright yellow and blue colours in it. 

From the year 1996, you will see that the logo matured and yet had a very fun look. Since then, the core logo hasn’t changed much. The only change was that they used purple colour in their logo but never changed the exclamation mark in it.

4.    NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY (NBC)
 
The NBC logo first appeared back in the year 1926 and since then has gone through some really impressive changes. If you look at the logos carefully, you will see that in the initial years the logo was more connected to the radio. During this phase movies were picking up pace but the radio was still a part of people’s lives. Between the 1940s and 1950s, the National Broadcasting Company involved itself more in television and made a change in their logo.

The famous peacock logo appeared much later though, first in the year 1956. But the colorful feathers of the peacock are definitely unique and are used even today.

Studying the evolution of some of the top corporate logos can help designers learn a lot from them. But it is not just the logos of the large companies that can teach you things, even the logos of small companies can. Going through such logos can help you get a clear idea about designing an identity for a business.
